TNEA 2026 important dates: Over 2 lakh candidates register
Over 2 lakh candidates have registered on the official TNEA portals for Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions, the Directorate of Technical Education (DoTE) confirmed. Registration for TNEA 2026 began on May 3, 2026 and the single-window online counselling will allocate seats based on Class 12 marks only.
TNEA 2026 important dates — key deadlines
Students must note these deadlines set by DoTE. Last date to register is June 2, 2026 and the last date to upload required documents is June 6, 2026 . Certificate verification will be held from June 8 to June 20, 2026 .
The provisional rank list will be released on June 29, 2026 , followed by a grievance redressal window from June 30 to July 4, 2026 . Missing the upload or verification windows can affect your counselling eligibility.
Registration and payment statistics
As of mid-May, DoTE reported 1.76 lakh registered applications and more than 1 lakh candidates have completed payment. The registration fee is Rs. 500 for General, BC and MBC categories and Rs. 250 for SC, SCA and ST candidates.
Applicants must complete payment and upload required documents on the official TNEA portals to be considered for the rank list.
Seats, colleges and admission rules
TNEA 2026 offers over 2 lakh engineering seats across more than 400 colleges affiliated to Anna University. Admissions are strictly on Class 12 merit — there is no separate entrance exam for TNEA.
DoTE's single-window counselling will match candidates to colleges and branches based on merit and preferences submitted during counselling.

High demand has been reported for Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, Cyber Security and Data Science branches. If you’ve registered, check that your payment status shows complete and that all documents are uploaded before June 6, 2026 .
